Regional EQA Training

Cohort 3 Regional EQA Capacity Building Training – Uganda SRL/NTRL, Kampala
Uganda SRL/NTRL successfully concluded the third cohort of its Regional External Quality Assurance Capacity Building Training programme, bringing together laboratory managers, EQA coordinators, and TB programme officers from across Africa for an intensive hands-on training experience.
Participants completed the programme equipped with practical skills, tools, and knowledge to strengthen EQA systems within their home countries and national TB programmes.

What Happened – In the Field?
PlusLife NPOC Training & Installation at Lifelink Hospital, Kyaliwajala Namugongo
NTRL expert trainers are currently on the ground at Lifelink Hospital, Kyaliwajala Namugongo, conducting hands-on PlusLife Near Point-of-Care (NPOC) TB diagnostic installation and training. This field activity brings WHO-endorsed molecular TB testing directly to private health facilities serving Kampala’s rapidly growing peri-urban communities thus reducing the time between symptom onset and confirmed TB diagnosis from days to under 60 minutes.

NTRL expert trainers lead Truenat PlusLife installation and hands-on training at various Health Centres in West Nile, extending molecular TB diagnostics to Uganda’s border communities.

Regional EQA Capacity Building Workshop
Uganda SRL/NTRL hosted laboratory managers from 20 countries and TB programme managers from 7 countries for a hands-on EQA capacity-building workshop including Truenat Plus Life training led by PT Scheme Coordinators.

Trainee Field Visit Cohort 2 – Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital
NTRL trainees visited Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital for an immersive field experience covering multiple laboratory sections with focused exposure to the TB and GeneXpert diagnostic laboratory.

NTRL and CPHL co-organised a high-level Ministry of Health Laboratory Department meeting at Hotel Africana, Kampala – aligning national laboratory priorities and strengthening inter-institutional coordination.
