The National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory (NTRL) is proud to mark the successful completion of practical training for five dedicated students from Jinja Health Sciences Institute, currently pursuing their Diploma in Laboratory Technology.
Over the course of their attachment at NTRL, these students immersed themselves in hands-on laboratory practice, gaining invaluable skills in:
- Reagent and Culture Media Preparation – learning the precision and protocols that underpin reliable laboratory results
- Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) Staining – a cornerstone technique in the diagnosis of tuberculosis
- Microscopy – developing the sharp eye and technical discipline required for accurate specimen analysis
- And many more laboratory procedures central to TB diagnostics and public health work
NTRL has always believed that quality laboratory science begins with strong foundational training, and it is a privilege to play a part in shaping the next generation of laboratory professionals. These students have demonstrated commitment, curiosity, and professionalism throughout their time here.
We congratulate them on reaching this milestone and wish them every success as they continue their studies and go on to serve Uganda’s health system with excellence.
