NTRL Uganda congratulates SLNTRL, and pleased to share that the Somaliland National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory (NTRL) has been recommended for accreditation to the ISO 15189:2022 standard by the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS).

The initial accreditation assessment was conducted by KENAS from 21st to 23rd October 2026. At the conclusion of the assessment, the laboratory was recommended for accreditation across the following scope:

• Microscopy
• Xpert Ultra & XDR
• Löwenstein-Jensen (LJ) Culture & Identification
• And so many others!

This milestone reflects the dedication, teamwork, and commitment to quality of the laboratory staff, together with the support of partners and stakeholders. ISO 15189:2022 accreditation demonstrates that a medical laboratory meets international requirements for quality and technical competence, giving clinicians, patients, and the national TB programme greater confidence in the reliability of test results.

We congratulate the entire Somaliland NTRL team on this achievement and remain committed to strengthening quality diagnostics in the fight against tuberculosis.
